about Sarah

Sarah Carter is actively involved in avalanche education, working in Valdez with Alaska Snow. She recently presented a poster at the 2006 International Snow Science Workshop in Telluride, Colorado.

Sarah is a duel-national holding both Canadian and U.S. citizenships. She is NASAR SAR Tech II, Canine SAR Tech III, and the Canadian Avalanche Association's Operations Level II certified. The CAA Level II course is internationally recognized as the highest caliber avalanche training available in North America.

Sarah has worked and mentored with ski patrols, highways operations, mountain rescue groups, university outdoor programs, backcountry clubs and avalanche centres. She holds Wilderness EMT, Swiftwater Rescue, AMGA Top Rope Manager, NASAR Lost Person, and CSIA Level I certification. She has a bachelor degree in English and Communication and has worked on snow science research with the University of Alaska Southeast.

When not playing in the snow, Super-Sarah (as she is known to her friends) enjoys playing ice hockey, hiking, ice climbing, and fly fishing. She enjoys being Mama for her baby son, Chance Stellan.

Sarah is a new mom, but is eager to continue her contribution to the outdoor community - training with Milo the Snow Safety Dog and teaching young Alaskans avalanche safety skills.
