(Note) At the conclusion of this training, a NASAR Examiner traveled to Juneau to instruct a brief re-cap of the course and and conduct the SARTECH Exam. All three team members who participated, passed the SARTECH II examination. An additional team member took and passed the SARTECH III exam one week later.

HINTS ON CHOOSING AND RAISING A PUP FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE

The Volhard Aptitude Test is used to determine a puppy's temperament and suitability for search and rescue work. This test is usually conducted by a tester who is unknown to the puppy. The test is given as close to, but not before the dogs 49th day of life.
